listen to michael lynch's thoughts on whether tim cahill should be selected for russia
Sydney Morning Herald and Age journalist Michael Lynch believes Tim Cahill will be selected in the World Cup squad should he find a club
Lynch told Carlos Alberto Diego on FNR_Football Nation Radio’s The Journos there is no better aerial threat in the game and the 38 year-old would be equally as pivotal off the field.
But Lynch concedes a lack of game time will hinder Cahill’s chances of appearing at a fourth World Cup.
“If [Cahill] goes two months without playing we have to wonder about his condition, fitness, sharpness and what type of contribution he can have,” Lynch said.
It was speculated Cahill was set to sign with former club Milwall, but the Championship club have denied such rumours today.
In his absence, Lynch believes City have responded well through their investment in youth player Daniel Arzani.
“There’s been a silver lining for City with Daniel Arzani emerging in the last few weeks,” Lynch said.
Cahill has been without a club since leaving Melbourne City in December 2017.
Michael Lynch writes for the Sydney Morning Herald and the Age and appears on The Journos every Tuesday from 8am (AEDT) with Carlos Alberto Diego on FNR_Football Nation Radio.
