listen to paul izzo discuss the olyroos and the u-23 afc championships
Adelaide United and Olyroos goalkeeper Paul Izzo believes International breaks during the A-League will solve the lack of preparation Australian national teams have for tournaments.
Izzo told Carlos Alberto Diego on FNR_Football Nation Radio’s Calcio Café this morning, little time to prepare for the AFC U-23 championship was a significant contributor to Australia’s early exit.
“We need International breaks where teams can rest and the international players can go with the national team,” Izzo said.
Izzo believes the Olyroos were capable to progressing deep into the tournament and emphasises how critical preparation was for the Vietnamese who progressed to the final.
“It’s extra hard coming up against a team that have been together for months,” Izzo said.
According to Izzo, the tournament was the first time the Olyrooos squad had come together.
Calcio Café airs daily from 7am (AEDT) hosted by Carlos Alberto Diego on FNR_Football Nation Radio.
