listen to the newly appointed Sydney fc head coach Steve Corica
Newly appointed Sydney FC head coach Steve Corica says he “won’t be making many changes” to the club’s style of play.
Corica was appointed the position yesterday and says while the club will be bringing in “new faces” he hopes to keep a core group of players to maintain the club’s culture.
Sydney FC has been known to recruit players with the “right personality” which the club believes has played an important role in their recent success.
“I know the players, the staff and what the club expects as well as the type of pressure put on Sydney so it’s nothing new to me,” Corica said.
Corica also told FNR_Football Nation Radio the “disappointment” of Sydney’s semi-final exit still surrounds the club and will be used as motivation in the new season.
“We’ve had a lot of time to reflect but the disappointment is still there as we expected to be in the final and to win it,” Corica said.
Corica believes the FFA could potentially look at re-introducing a system which rewards the team which finishes first in the regular season with a “second chance” in the finals series.
“Maybe it’s something the FFA will look at as they want the best teams in the final as well,” Corica said.
Corica also addressed the playing future of captain Alex Brosque who is still undecided about his future at the club.
“He’s still deciding but I’ve got a feeling he’s going to come back for another season,” Corica said.
