listen to craig foster discuss the south sydney a-league bid
Craig Foster believes the Southern Sydney A-League bid is “ahead of the queue” due to the extensive procedures and operations implemented.
Foster is heavily involved in designing many facets of the club including the academy, training and scouting network which has seen him travel to Europe numerous times.
“The message to the ownership group is we are a necessary for the game and need to get the job down now,” Foster said.
Research conducted by Foster indicates the community in the Southern region of Sydney would heavily embrace and support an A-League team.
“We have wonderful support politically and in the Southern region of Sydney. The community are extremely excited,” Foster said.
Foster told Jonathan Howcroft and Carlos Alberto Diego on FNR_Football Nation Radio’s The Journos the region is a key area where an A-League club is required.
“To think that our largest city of over five million people should only house two teams is something everyone should think very seriously about,” Foster said.
Foster also revealed the Sutherland Shire council have approved the design for a performance centre.
The issues in congress have delayed the expansion process, which Foster believes is frustrating but has not hindered the passion towards building a team in South Sydney.
“A-League must succeed and taken to a new level which is why I got involved. We have to raise the bar,” Foster said.
Jonathan Howcroft appears on The Journos every Wednesday from 8am (AEDT) hosted by Carlos Alberto Diego on FNR_Football Nation Radio.
