LISTEN TO bRISBANE STRIKERS PRESIDENT bRUCE DINSDALE DISCUSS THE CLUB'S RECENT A-LEAGUE BID
Brisbane Strikers president Bruce Dinsdale believes a second A-League club in Brisbane would be significant in growing the football community in Brisbane.
Dinsdale commented on the recent A-League bid proposed by the Strikers saying, “Our view is Brisbane and the competition needs a second A-League team.”
Brisbane Strikers currently play in the NPL but Dinsdale believes a presence in the A-League will almost double opportunities for local players, who will be exposed to a live game every week in Brisbane.
Moreover, Dinsdale highlighted how the Strikers could work in partnership with the Brisbane Roar off the field as well as creating an on-field rivalry.
“Off the field there is an opportunity for the two clubs to work together to front governments and councils for facilities and to help local clubs,” Dinsdale said.
On the field Dinsdale believes a Brisbane derby would generate as much interest as the derbies in Melbourne and Sydney, with the ultimate reward being more exposure and opportunities for local players.
Brisbane Strikers President Bruce Dinsdale joined Carlos Alberto Diego on FNR_Football Nation Radio’s Calcio Café which airs daily from 7-8am (AEDT).
