LISTEN BELOW TO TOWNSEND TALKING ACL AND SYDNEY'S CHANCES OF SUCCESS
Sydney FC CEO Danny Townsend believes the Asian Champions League is an “opportunity to widen the Sydney FC supporter network.”
While Townsend said the club have implemented a marketing process targeting football fans from Sydney’s Asian community, both the AFC and FFA can do more to market the competition.
“The Asian Champions League is moving forward in a positive direction but there is a lot of work to be done in marketing in,” Townsend said.
In terms of Sydney’s performance in the competition, Townsend told David Davutovic on FNR_Football Nation Radio’s Football Q&A the club have their eyes on the ultimate prize.
“The ACL is the next bastion for us to conquer,” Townsend said.
When asked whether Graham Arnold will be at Sydney should they progress to the latter stages of the competition, Townsend said he is hopeful it will be the case.
“He talks as though he’s going to be here for a long time. He always has the best interest for the club at heart,” Townsend said.
Sydney’s Asian Champions League campaign commences Wednesday 14 February, 2018 against Suwon Samsung Bluewings at the Allianz Stadium.
Football Q&A airs every Wednesday from 5pm (AEDT) hosted by David Davutovic on FNR_Football Nation Radio.
