Perth Glory W-League coach Bobby Despotovski believes it was poor scheduling from the FFA which led to the side’s decline in form.
Despotovski highlighted how the blocks of consecutive away fixtures has resulted in the side being unable to train and effectively prepare for matches.
“The FFA has no regard to the safety of the players,” Despotovski said.
Despotovski also told Carlos Alberto Diego on FNR_Football Nation Radio’s Football Extra the constant travel has impacted on the personal lives of the players, many of whom are forced to take time off work.
“They [FFA] have completely disregarded we’re on the other side of the country and how it’s not as easy for us to travel to the other side of the country,” Despotovski said.
Despotovski says the team almost had to do “a second pre-season during the season” to maintain the required levels of fitness to keep up with the schedule.
Perth Glory play Western Sydney in the final round of the W-League season.
Football Extra airs daily from 9am (AEDT) hosted by Carlos Alberto Diego on FNR_Football Nation Radio.
