Football Supporters Australia interim chairman Pablo Bateson says a “seat on the [congress] table” is the outcome fan groups are looking for in their meeting with the FFA today.
The FFA will meet with the game’s various stakeholders over the next two weeks to discuss the formation of the new congress.
The FFA will also meet with FIFA in the coming days in relation to the congress and Bateson is adamant the addition of fan groups will aid fan engagement and the way the game is run.
“If the FFA and FIFA want to take this seriously they have to be inclusive and include fan groups,” Bateson said.
Bateson told Joshua Parish and Carlos Alberto Diego on FNR_Football Nation Radio’s Fans United the meeting will give active fan groups an opportunity to engage with the FFA and put forth their case as to why fans should have a voice on the congress table.
“It’s an opportunity for fans to voice what they think needs to be done in this process,” Bateson said.
Bateson also proposed a fan advisory body be established to meet on a regular basis with the FFA to report fan grievances and aid engagement.
“It’s up to the FFA to facilitate a process of engagement which brings everyone together,” Bateson said.
Fans United airs every Tuesday from 9am (AEDT) hosted by Joshua Parish and Carlos Alberto Diego on FNR_Football Nation Radio.
