“I knew with everything I did to try and get there that it’d be my last moment in football” : Craig moore
Former Socceroo Craig Moore says he is proud to have retired playing at the “highest possible level” after the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Moore entered the tournament as a 34 year old and says he knew going in the tournament would be his last as a player.
“I knew with everything I did to try and get there that it’d be my last moment in football,” Moore said.
Moore told FNR_Football Nation Radio he “didn’t want to come to Australia to play” after the World Cup and instead wanted to finish his career playing at the World Cup.
Despite failing to progress out of the Group Stage in the tournament, Moore says he is proud of the team’s performance.
“We gave it a red hot crack and worked hard as a team,
“At times we’ve been on the end of bad defeats but it’s a credit to everyone involved to bounce back and show that unity,” Moore said.
In relation to the upcoming World Cup, Moore believes the Socceroos will be a tough team to beat due to their determination and resilience.
“There aren’t many who’d want us in their group because they know they’ll get a hard game,” Moore said.
