Former Manchester City and Carlton defender Simon Colosimo does not believe the “incident” against Manchester United was the reason he never reached his full potential.
Colosimo ruptured his ACL playing against Manchester United for the Socceroos which ruled him out for a year, but Colosimo says there were other reasons why he never achieved his full potential.
“I don’t believe that incident was the reason, I have my own insights,” Colosimo said.
Colosimo told Carlos Alberto Diego on FNR_Football Nation Radio’s Club Socceroo not having an Italian passport prohibited a move to Italy alongside Carlton teammates Mark Breciano and Vince Grella.
“Was it the tackle or the passport? I know it was the passport,” Colosimo said.
Colosimo also discussed the significance of players trusting themselves and their decisions when at a “fork in the road.”
“It’s about making those decisions and getting those right and you also need a lot of things to fall into place,” Colosimo said.
Colosimo played six games for Manchester City and represented Australia 26 times.
Club Socceroo airs every Monday from 10am (AEDT) hosted by Carlos Alberto Diego on FNR_Football Nation Radio.
