listen to alex susnjar discuss making his international debut
Socceroos defender Alex Susnjar says making his International debut against Norway was a “dream come true” and looks forward to pushing for World Cup selection.
Susnjar came on as a substitute in Australia’s loss to Norway having been called up after impressing the Socceroos coaching staff at the AFC U-23 Championships.
“From an under 23’s championship to getting a call up and making my debut all within a three month period is a dream come true,” Susnjar said.
Susnjar told Chris Appleford on FNR_Football Nation Radio last night he came into the Socceroos camp with a positive mindset and did all he could to “prove [he] can make it at the best level.”
“I am young at 22 years old but I don’t let that get to me,
“I came on the field with a strong mindset to keep it simple and play strong,” Susnjar said.
Susnjar also emphasised the significance of players being available to compete in junior international competitions such as the U-23 AFC Championships as it gives coaches a good indication at where players are at.
“Coaches from the Socceroos are always watching so it’s about being focused, dedicated and proving yourself,” Susnjar said.
