LISTEN TO HIGHWOOD ON AUSTRALIA'S CHANCES BELOW
Head of Women’s Football Development and community football Emma Highwood is confident Australia have prepared a strong bid to host the FIFA 2023 Women’s World Cup.
Highwood says according to FIFA Australia is seen as a leader in women’s football and the timing to host a World Cup could not be more perfect.
In correlation with the bid, Highwood says it is pleasing to have the support of the federal government.
“It’s amazing to have such continued support from governments both state and federally,” Highwood said.
Highwood also told Michael Zappone and Tony Pignata on FNR_Football Nation Radio’s Football Bosses the FFA have been diligent in their approach to their bid.
“From an FFA perspective we were diligent in understanding the process will be different,” Highwood said.
Highwood believes there will also be strong bids coming from Japan as well as members of the South American confederation such as Columbia to host the 2023 tournament.
Football Bosses airs every Wednesday from 7pm (AEDT) hosted by Michael Zappone and Tony Pignata on FNR_Football Nation Radio.
