Listen to HOW ROBERT STAMBOLZIEV FOUND HIMSELF BACK AT PRESTON WHILE ON BREAK FROM PAEEK.
PAEEK captain Robert Stambolziev shared on Aussies Abroad last night how he helped boyhood club Preston Lions FC avoid relegation from Victoria's State League 1 while on break..
On his return to Melbourne, Stambolziev was approached by many NPL clubs for a guest stint but told the clubs he was unable to stay for the finals series due to commitments in Cyprus.
Stambolziev told Chris Appleford on Aussies Abroad last night the only release clause in his contract was if a professional club approached to sign him.
Stambolziev was then approached by his boyhood club Preston Lions, where newly appointed coach Lou Acevski convinced the 27-year-old to play for the remainder of his break.
“It was like coming home. I really enjoyed my time there and was able to score a few goals and help the team stay up,” Stambolziev said.
Aussies Abroad airs every Tuesday from 8pm with Chris Appleford on FNR_Football Nation Radio.
