listen to bristol city captain bailey wright speak about the club's premier league aspirations
Bristol City captain Bailey Wright says the club have put themselves in a good position to achieve Premier League promotion.
Wright told Chris Appleford yesterday on FNR_Football Nation Radio’s Aussies Abroad the club’s recent success has galvanised the players to strive towards more.
Bristol City currently sit fifth in the Championship, eyeing a top-two finish which would see them promoted into the Premier League.
“Every game we play is another opportunity to take a step in the right direction,” Wright said.
One of the biggest stories to come out of Bristol City this season was their win over Manchester United in the Quarter Finals of the League Cup.
Wright believes this win will act as a catalyst in instilling further belief within the team.
“The whole place erupted. It was all about backing ourselves against the world’s best, it gives us the opportunity to go on and create more history,” Wright said.
Bristol City were knocked out of the cup by Manchester City in the semi-finals.
In addition to his Premier League aspirations, Wright also has a place in the 23-man squad for Russia in his sights.
Everyone wants to be pushing to be a part of the next Camp in March and we’ll have a new manager by then, so everyone will be looking to make a good impression,” Wright said.
